Our July Member of the Month is someone near and dear to our hearts (and website); Lee Easton, President of Aerovision.io. Lee was one of our very first members at the root coworking, and he has even helped create and produce the latest version of our website. We wouldn’t be the coworking space we are today without Lee, as he has been very instrumental in helping develop our community around us.

Lee launched Aerovision.io in 2014 as an “Aerial Cinematography” business, combining his passions for flying drones with photography & videography. Most entrepreneurs have to pivot at some point along their journey in order to grow and scale their business, but few have the ability or sense of when to do so. Lee recognized that he needed to grow Aerovision to more than just an aerial cinematography company, and grew his team around him to turn Aerovision.io into a software development firm, specializing in web and data.

Now that you know a little more about Lee and his company, let's get to the hard hitting questions…

How long have you been with your current company?

Going on 6 years this November.

What is your official title/job description with your current company?

President.

How would you summarize what your company does and why your clients chose you over the competition?

We help businesses automate and centralize their data for ease of use. Every company today has data to some extent… whether it be financial data, HR data, Call Center data, or even Marketing Data. We connect all the dots and help companies get a high-level health check of their organization by providing valuable insight to all of the information by bringing it into one location. Our Clients choose us because we are the best and most efficient at what we do. We have a lot of experience and confidence around this unique specialization.

How has your business been impacted by COVID-19?

In a positive way, yes. We are now seeing more clients that are accepting of remote data management which is our specialization.

If you had to have a philosophy of life, what would it be?

To practice daily on becoming a better person. As much as I’d love to have a positive impact on the world, I have come to realize that starts with improving myself first.

What's a productivity tool or app that you couldn't live without?

SLACK! My whole day lives in SLACK.

Do you or your company do any work within the community in the form of charity, nonprofits, or just building up Tulsa?

Yes, we are contributors of The Little Light House. As we grow, I hope to have us more involved in helping children and teens who don’t have parents.

What is one of your favorite books and why?

The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss. This book taught me all about delegation, automation, elimination, and liberation. I quit my 9-5 salary job to dive in head first on this business all while traveling the world. Thanks, Tim.

Favorite movie and why?

Lords of Dogtown. I’ve always had a passion for surf and skate culture. This movie tells the story of some legendary surfers in Venice that evolved skateboarding into what it is today. Part of me feels as though I should have grown up alongside them.

What is a fun fact or story about you that most people that know you might be surprised to learn?

I once traveled alone in Johannesburg, South Africa to explore Ponte City Tower. It’s one of the world’s largest slums that reside in a single building. It was a bit of a suicide mission but I was able to make it into the tower of the building after being chased by two guys with syringes full of who knows what.

And lastly, what is one of your favorite things about being a member of The Root Coworking?

I love the community at the Root. Though we are still rather small, the members are all very mature in their businesses. It is fun to see others from Tulsa doing well as young entrepreneurs!
